A Career as an Accountant?

If you are smooth with the numbers and can mix figures like a bartender shakes a cocktail then a career in accounting managing finances could be a very lucrative and rewarding long term career move. Careers in Accountancy

Finance is big business all across the UK and everyone from individuals to big international corporations need help with accounting, bookkeeping  and other important money matters.

Tax returns, investments and shares, risk assessment, pensions and plain old financial advice all provide lots of work opportunites for an effective accountant who knows how to save their clients lots of time and money working within the rules.

Long Term Accountancy Benefits

As an accountant either working for an established UK firm or through your own accounting company you will benefit from a sustained demand for financial services for an indefinate period.

Providing you have the skills there will always be customers. Simply put people always need help with thorny money matters such as taxation, self assessment for instance or company corporation tax or simply dealing with Revenue and Customs to wade through the confusing jargon and small print.

Other people will require reliable financial advice such as how to plan and grow business assets such as property portfolios or will need financial assessments and statements to support applications for mortgages or business loans; for example an accountants letter.

More plainly put many people find that accountancy, bookkeeping and other money matters are too great a strain on their time, business and lifestyle and they will seek to outsource all the jobs that they hate to a fully qualified accountant.

This is where a good accountant will make lots of good money, essentially by saving other people lots of money on tax and other financial matters a decent accountant can generate very good income indeed over the span of a long career.

Training to be an Accountant


Most Colleges and Universities will offer accountancy courses providing that you meet the entrance criteria, these will enable you to source employment with an accountancy firm or to set up your own accounting business.

Sometimes it will be possible to take an accounting course while in full time employment or as a condition of employment, when applying for accountancy jobs this is something worth considering.
